Memory Lane supports and participates in the Trees for Troops program. Trees for Troops is a program where Christmas tree growers proudly donate trees to military bases across the country. At the base, the trees are distributed to military families that might not be able to afford a Christmas tree.
In 2022, we distributed 16,391 Christmas trees to military families on 84 bases across the USA. The program is operated by the Christmas Spirit Foundation, a charitable foundation setup by the National Christmas Tree Association.
Memory Lane both donates and picks up trees from other tree farms and delivers them to the collection point in Wichita. From there, a FedEx truck delivers them to military bases. It takes a great deal of overhead to coordinate all those trees and make the arrangements for the military to accept them.
Memory Lane supports the Trees for Troops program by helping raise the funds to pay for the staff work involved. In 2022, Memory Lane collected $255 in donations from our customers to support Trees for Troops.
Memory Lane also created a Trees for Troops Bear, an 8-inch teddy bear in uniform, that we sell at the tree farm. We also wholesale the bears to other tree farms across the country. Four dollars from the sale of each bear goes to the Christmas Spirit Foundation to support the Trees for Troops program. In 2022, we sold 743 bears and donated $2,972 to the Christmas Spirit Foundation.
Join us this holiday season in spreading cheer and providing Christmas for those in need.
